Timeless themes of Heaven, Purgatory and Hell are visually manifested in a large-scale triptych executed in acrylics and oils.
The painting depicts a transitional zone as our souls leave Earth, where we can briefly glimpse the mechanism of the cosmos – calming and morphing what was Earthly in our being and offering us the portal to what comes next. What we do during this transition varies from soul to soul, so I'm depicting one souls’ presence in this dynamic.
Seeing and feeling only the obvious is the burden of the insensitive. To interpret and observe the many layers of life, however dark or light they may be is the privilege of the perceptive. To offer the viewer more than one plane of thought and imagery through painting is what interests and occupies much of my time.
Once upon a time amongst great turmoil and oppression from the powers that be, a great savior prince descended from the majesty and greatness of the ancient Pyrenees. It is said he fought the red- eyed serpent that protected the underworld and would someday save the Earth from being squeezed by the “juicer”, who crushes celestial bodies for their magma.
